TAMPA PLUMBERS - COMMERCIAL BACKFLOW PREVENTER INSTALLATION

4" Dutile Iron Backflow Prevention Device

The installation pictured being completed by EVERYDAYPLUMBER.com is a Zurn Wilkins 375  4" Ductile Iron Backflow Device. A backflow preventer is used to protect drinking water from contamination by insuring that water only flows in one direction from the municipal supply. If a loss of pressure occurs the backflow prevention mechanism will not allow possibly contaminated water to flush back into the water supply. This commercial plumbing installation being completed by our Tampa plumbers is for a residential apartment complex of approximately 300 units in Tampa, FL.  This device will insure the health of the water supply for all of the residents.

The first step the plumbers take is to remove the failed device. (Well actually the first step is to make sure the water supply is shut off, but I figured you took that for granted😃😃) Then dig down to the water supply pipes and remove any corroded pipes and install new fittings to cleanly connect the new backflow. New iron pipes  need to be measured, cut to size, and installed so the backflow prevention device is level and the base is above the ground. Once the device is properly fitted to inflow and outflow pipes, a concrete slab is poured around it to insure stability over the long term.
